In Miami-Dade criminal court the term initial appearance and the term first court
appearance have two specific meanings.
In a criminal court of law you may not have
to attend when you case is initially mentioned on the docket and or referred to in
criminal court.
You will have to attend when you are required to make your first court
appearance. There is a difference.
It is very common for a criminal defendant in a
criminal court case to be nervous at there first court appearance. To the degree
of the defendant having difficulty in speaking fluently, being flustered and not
even being able to speak at all.
When and if called upon to speak, remember to always
be polite. Hardly anyone would ever become angry with a defendant that is polite
having difficulty speaking at there first court appearance.
Your first court appearance
is important. It allows the members of the court both the judge and prosecution to
see you for the first time.
First impressions are not a determination of guilt and
or innocence but being polite can allow the court to work with you more easily when
showing acceptable behavior.
